Blood Donation Camp 2010


Why to donate Blood ?
Its best for your health…Our body contains approximately 4.5 – 5 Liters of blood out of which only 300ml blood is withdrawn. Immediately after donation, within 2 – 3 hours our body produces new blood cells and thus the blood in the body gets refreshed. Thus donating blood helps in stimulating generation of new blood cells and thereby increasing our fitness and immune system of our body.
The Annual blood requirement of Mumbai city itself is about 2.5 – 3 Lakhs of bottles. Thus by donating blood we can share this load and serve humanity.

A kind request to all to give their maximum support for this Camp by donating their valued blood and also by helping spreading the word.

  • DONORS SHOULD AVOID SMOKING AND TAKING ALCOHOLIC DRINKS 24 HOURS BEFORE DONATION.

Activities undertaken by Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation



Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation (SAUF) alongwith Shree Aniruddha Aadesh Pathak (SAAP) and other affiliated sister organizations, including Aniruddha's Academy of Disaster Management (AADM) all of which are registered charitable organizations, undertake various socio-cultural activities, which are briefly enumerated herein below:

1) Annapurna Mahaprasadam Project:

Under this project, these organizations provide free mid-day meals to children from schools in tribal areas and in municipal schools in rural areas. This is made possible by sponsors / donors who donate rice, wheat, pulses, oil, sugar, etc. Presently, mid-day meals are being provided to 3531 students across 31 different schools in the rural areas by the volunteers of these organizations, who cook and serve the fresh food daily, to the students attending the schools. Also during the annual Kolhapur Medical Camp, lunch is served to thousands of villagers and school children.


2) Eco - Friendly Ganesh Murti :

This unique project involves the making of Lord Ganesh idols from Paper pulp. These idols are made from shredded paper of ‘Ramnaam’ notebooks used by the devotees who write Ramnaam and deposit the notebooks in the organization Aniruddha’s Universal Bank of Ramnaam (AUBR).

These idols disintegrate easily upon submersion as compared to idols made from plaster-of-paris. A notable aspect is that, paints used are non-toxic, thus controlling pollution immensely.
The volunteers of SAUF, AUBR and other organizations collectively make these idols for the Ganpati festival every year In the year 2007, the organization prepared and distributed nearly 3500 Lord Ganesh idols.

3) Medical and Hygiene Camp :

For the welfare of the people in rural areas the organization conducts regular medical camps. Since last five years such a medical camp is being conducted in rural areas of Kolhapur District. The medical team comprises of Physicians, Ophthalmologists, Dentist, Pediatricians, Gynecologist, ENT surgeon, Cardiologist, Orthopaedician and General practitioners. Although the camp is held for one day the planning begins months in advance and a regular follow up post the conduct of the camp for meeting the requirements of the villagers is maintained by the volunteers of the organizations During the 2008 mega medical camp 16300 villagers from 200 villages, including 7634 school children benefited from the camp

Major Activities of the Camp:

1) Distribution of medicines, tonics, syrups etc. to school going children twice during the year. Also free medical check-up of 8000 students from 108 schools was conducted.

2) Distribution of used clothes to villagers and two sets of uniforms to school going children. In year 2008, 15268 sets of uniforms, which were stitched from the cloth prepared under the Charkha Yojana were distributed to 7634 students (2 per student).

3) Distribution of caps, slippers, sports materials for school children. This year 7634 sets of slippers and caps were distributed among children.

4) Distribution of hygiene material such as bleaching lotion, anti-lice lotion, toothpowder, soaps, combs, etc.
This year, material was distributed among 3600 families from 34 remote villages across Kolhapur region.


4) Blood Donation Camps :

A Mega Blood donation camp is organized once in a year by the Foundation with the help of its allied sister organizations. This year Twenty three reputed blood banks of major Government and Municipal Hospitals, such as Nair Hospital, KEM Hospital, Tata Memorial Hospital, J.J. Hospital, Cooper Hospital, Bhabha Hospital, to name a few, participated in the camp. In all 2866 bottles of were collected on a single day during the 2008 camp held on May 4, 2008. Fifty-six doctors & 37 paramedical personnel also voluntarily participated in this event. Apart from this, various upasana centers of the

Foundation arranges blood donation camps on a regular basis in different areas across Mumbai & Maharashtra. In the year 2007, a total of 68 blood donation camps were organized by the trust.


5) Aniruddha’s Bank For The Blind :

As the name suggests, this is a bank, but one that is different from the rest. This is a knowledge bank that stores knowledge in the form of audio cassettes meant for the blind. Audio cassettes based on the academic curriculum are prepared and given to the visually challenged students of various blind school and colleges. Curriculum of courses meant for the adult blind persons, viz. physiotherapy, as also technical courses like lathe training are also recorded on cassettes. The project has targeted to reach out to the entire country over a period of three years, wherein the cassettes will be prepared in different languages of the country depending on the requirement. Volunteers, primarily ladies, record the cassettes sitting at home, which gives them an ideal opportunity of balancing home and work, besides being a fulfilling experience. To date the project has worked with ‘The Kamala Mehta School for the Blind’, ‘The Victoria School for the Blind’ and the ‘National Association for the Blind’ (NAB) and is now in the process of reaching out to a wider audience. So far, more than thirty thousand cassettes and 3000 CDs/Cassettes have been distributed to various schools and institutions, free of cost, benefiting more than thirty thousand visually challenged students across India and other countries. So far, it has recorded CDs and cassettes in 11 Indian languages not only for school study material but it also covered post-graduation and vocational courses.

Till now almost 35,000 to 40,000 students have benefitted from these recorded audio books.
Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation through its 250 odd centers and thousands of volunteers, has commenced work in co-ordination with Shree Aniruddha Aadesh Pathak and Aniruddha Samarpan Pathak for achieving this objective i.e. Samartha Bharat. A dedicated team of volunteers is working on each project and special organizational structure for successful implementation of these projects has been developed.


6) “Clothing with Charkha” (Charkha Vastra Yojana):

Even today there are many children, not just in villages but also in cities, who do not have enough clothing to cover their bodies. As a result they abstain from attending school and remain deprived of education. Illiteracy breeds blind faith and wrong traditions, which in turn perpetuates poverty. The Charkha Yojana has been specifically implemented to break this vicious circle of Poverty and Illiteracy Today, thousands of followers of Parampoojya Sadguru Shree Aniruddha Bapu spin the Amber charkhas for thread making. The hanks produced from threads are collected and converted into cloth. School uniforms of various sizes are stitched from this cloth after proper processing and are distributed, free of cost, among the students in order to motivate and encourage them to attend school. Till date 59,085 uniform sets have been distributed to 24544 students, More than 1,43,000 meters of cloth has been prepared under Charkha Project upto March 2008. Presently, a total of 3871 Charkhas are in operation. The Foundation also conducts special camps at its affiliated centers throughout the year in which devotees run Amber charkha and the thread so spun is used for making cloth, from which uniforms are stitched for the underprivileged students.

7) “The round the year water, farming and fodder plan ( Barmass pani-
sheti-chara yojana – Gogras yojana)” :

Under this scheme, people in urban areas, where water is available in abundance, grow “grass” in their houses and in open spaces, just as we do during the “Navaratri Festival”. It is possible to have a yield of sugarcane, wheat, rice and maize 3 to 4 times a year. The grass so collected is sent to farmers in the drought stricken areas to feed their cattle. Till date truckloads of grass have been distributed through our Pune centre in Purander taluka.

8) “Raddi (used paper) project” :

Every Thursday, bhaktas bring old/used newspapers/magazines/notebooks every Thursday at upasana place i.e. IES New English School. These used papers collected from people is converted into various useful articles such as paper bags, which goes a long way in solving the plastic bag problem and also contributes, in its own little way, to the conservation of the environment. Further, paper pulp made out of this paper is used to make articles like Word chart, toys, alphabetical blocks which are distributed to poor students as incentive for them to attend school.

9) “Old is Gold” :

The organization collects used (but not torn) clothes, old utensils, old text books, and blank pages of note books (to convert them in new note books) and old toys (non battery operated) and many more. These articles are properly maintained and then distributed to the families of poor students, in order to encourage them to send their children to school. The clothes and utensils so collected are also distributed amongst the people affected by natural or manmade disasters. The distribution is done in different needy areas in all over Maharashtra. So far around 7,84,000 pieces of different types of clothes and around 3,00,000 utensils, have been distributed to more than 2,00,000 needy people. In addition to this, approximately 55,000 students from 182 schools were given different articles, including clothing, for their use. Clothes & Utensils were also distributed in flood affected areas across Maharashtra and in Mumbai during the rampaging floods of 26th July 2005

10) “The warmth of Love project” :

Torn clothes or pieces of cloth are collected by the devotees and converted into quilts, which are then gifted to needy workers, students and women. The volunteers, both men and women are imparted training on how to make quilts. So far 2148 pieces of quilts have been prepared and distributed to needy people.


11) “The Vidya Prakash Project” :

Under this program, candles and matchboxes donated by devotees are distributed to the poor students in rural areas where there is no supply of electricity thus enabling the students to study even in absence of electricity.





12) “Ahilya Sangh Project”
:

Ahilya is the personification of the misery of the Indian woman; caught between the injustice of the society and that of her husband. The Ahilya Sangh has been formed for endowing women with the requisite strength to counter any exploitation and face any adversity with fortitude. All the Indian martial arts needed to protect the women have been taught to a select batch of 15 volunteers ‘free of cost’. These fully trained volunteers are now, in turn, training subsequent batches, each of 80 volunteers. Besides, all women who have been wronged, or are in a crisis situation, receive support from the “Ahilya Sangh”. Women who suffer because of the addiction of their husbands also receive help from Ahilya Sangh. Uptill now 787 ladies have been trained under Ahilya Sangh Project. The Ahilya Sangh also undertakes Tree Plantation projects across Maharashtra. So far thousands of trees have been planted across Maharashtra. The Sangh also takes care of the planted trees.


13) “Bharatiya Bhasha Sangam” :

Out of all kinds of knowledge, the knowledge of language is considered supreme, That is why the organization has been carrying out the project of the study of various languages. Each one has to learn a language apart from the mother tongue. A facility is being created where every Indian can learn any other language apart from the mother tongue. Around 1200 volunteers are already studying different Indian languages apart from their mother tongue.

14) “The Institute of studies of five Continents”

An institute aimed at the study of the five continents, on the lines of the Institute of Regional Studies is being formed. The progress & politics of the five continents, scientific & educational progress, cultural progress & regression, all will be part of the study. The study of the world around only helps to study our own selves. This institute will produce social scientists.

15) “Activities of Aniruddha’s Academy of Disaster Management” :

Aniruddha’s Academy of Disaster Management, the sister organisation of Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation, is involved in conducting basic training courses for disaster management for the benefit of common citizens. Till now around 45,000 people have been trained by the Academy in the basics of disaster management.

Fairs and festivals at religious places attract crowds in great numbers and from regions far and wide. The DMVs help in controlling and regulating the crowd, which for e.g. makes queues for darshan, channels of smooth movement and facilitates the work of the police and other civic authorities. The DMVs of the AADM have been invited on a regular basis by civil administration and police department to manage crowds of bhaktas at the annual festival of Jyotiba, at the Kumbha Mela and at the Mandhradevi, Mhasa, Paithan fair for the last few years. The organization also offers on a regular basis, seva at the Shreesiddhivinayak temple (Prabhadevi, Mumbai) on the day of ‘Angarki sankashta chaturthi’ and during the Navaratri festival at the Mahalakshmi temple (Mahalakshmi, Mumbai). The Academy also puts up a well-equipped medical counter at the site of these fairs. Since the year 2006, the Academy is officially associated with the Civic Authorities and the Police Authorities for the disaster management planning, especially the monsoon disasters. The Ganapati festival celebrated in Maharashtra includes certain specific days for the immersion of idols. We are all aware as to how vital it is to regulate traffic as also the crowd that pours in on the beaches as well as roads. The AADM volunteers not only help in this regulation and management but also offer a very noble seva on the day following the immersion. On the request of the Fire Brigade, from 2006 onwards, on the occasion of the Ganesh immersion the volunteers of the AADM posted themselves at 22 different lakes in New Mumbai. A large force of DMVs and a well-planned network makes this seva possible.


The ‘Academy’ is also involved in other socially oriented programmes like working towards the control of the use of plastic, which is an eventual threat to the ecology. Training in making manure with the help of earthworms (Vermiculture), (i.e. avoiding the use of chemicals); tree plantation drives, pulse-polio vaccination drives are other projects implemented under the auspices of the AADM. In 2006, the DMVs even helped to clear 80 trees that were hindering the flow of traffic. These trees had fallen due to incessant and heavy showers. The Academy also conducts training programmes for employees of Corporates, Government & Civil Bodies to enhance awareness among them. Re-immersion of Ganapati idols, cleaning of beaches and cleanliness drive year after Ganpati festival, the remains of Lord Ganesha idols that get washed on to the shore on the day following the day of immersion are re-immersed back into the sea. For last four years, the cleanliness drives were undertaken at the city beaches of Girgaum, Dadar, Mahim, Juhu and Versova in Mumbai and also at Kalyan and Ulhasnagar in the suburbs. Thousands of volunteers toiled selflessly and, in the process, re-immersed approximately 10000 idols and disposed of 45 truckloads of Nirmalya in the year 2007. Cleanliness drives are also undertaken on a regular basis at municipal schools, at public eastern suburb of Mumbai.

16) Re-immersion of Ganapati idols, cleaning of beaches and cleanliness drive :

For last four years, the cleanliness drives were undertaken at the city beaches of Girgaum, Dadar, Mahim, Juhu and Versova in Mumbai and also at Kalyan and Ulhasnagar in the suburbs. Thousands of volunteers toiled selflessly and, in the process, re-immersed approximately 10000 idols and disposed of 45 truckloads of Nirmalya in the year 2007.

Cleanliness drives are also undertaken on a regular basis at municipal schools, at public places of worship and at an organization for mentally retarded children in Mankhurd , an eastern suburb of Mumbai.

17) Work in mental hospitals and orphanages :

Volunteers of SAUF and SSAUT regularly visit mental asylums at Thane, Pune and Ratnagiri along with resident doctors and attend to patients with varying ailments. Work is also going on in orphanages at Kolhapur and Mumbai, where the inmates are trained in physical fitness and are taught to say their prayers.

18) Work in Hospitals :

The volunteers of the organization assist the staff of TATA Memorial Hospital and Nair Hospital in their day to day work. The scope of work at the TATA Memorial Hospital includes:

• Registration of patients in registration department.

• Guiding outstation patients by filling their railway forms, assisting them in terms of availing the available facilities.

• Directing patients to various wards.

• Helping boost the morale of patients during the phase when they have to undergo radio/chemo therapy. At the Nair hospital, volunteers accompany lonely patients and provide moral support.

• Cleanliness programs are undertaken at Municipal and Governmental hospitals, where the entire hospital premises, including stairs, toilets, wards, corridors etc. are thoroughly dusted, scrubbed and cleaned.

Work at David sassoon hospital

The volunteers of the organization assist the staff of David Sassoon Hospital (Pune) in their daily work.


The Seva carried out at Sassoon Hospital is as follows.


Registration of patients in registration department.

Guiding outstation patients by filling their railway forms, assisting them in terms of availing the available facilities

Directing patients to various wards

Arranging the medicines for the patients

Assisting the process to admit a patient in a ward

The other seva carried out by volunteers include:

To help solve problems faced by patients by pointing out them to the concerned authorities.

To ditribute used clothes (from Old is Gold project) to the needy patients and their families.

To arrange blood bottles if required during an operation

To accompany patients if they do not have any relatives/family members with them.

To arrange meals for patients.

Cleanliness programs are undertaken where the entire hospital premises, including stairs, toilets, wards, corridors etc. are thoroughly dusted, scrubbed and cleaned.

19) Mobile Medication Facilities :

Through this project, SAUF and other organizations, with the help of trained doctors, offer free medical aid to the poor and under privileged in Mumbai. The mobile Medical van tours various slum areas in Mumbai every week undertaking medical checkup on regular basis and distributing free medicines wherever essential.

The mobile medical van tours areas of worli naka and jijamata nagar every Monday and Thursday, and areas of Mahim, Ram mandir every Tuesday and Fridays. There are 2 trained doctors of the organization for medical checkup and distribution of medicines.

The Mobile Medical camp is also carried out outside Mumbai, in under privileged areas of Virar. Mobile medication facilities alongwith swacchata seva and are carried out at around 9 schools at remote places in virar once in every 3 months. Volunteers of SAUF clean the surroundings and school areas and medical aid is given to the needy children by trained doctors of the trust.

20) Work in Schools for Blind :

Aniruddha’s Bank for Blind seva is regularly carried out at following 4 schools.

1. National Association for Blind (NAB)
Seva is carried out under three heads

a. Rehabilitation Dept.

Volunteers assist the children in english speaking, various competitions and sports, teach them a little bit of cookery.
b. Providing Readers and Writers.
Every year 20-25 volunteers of the trust offer seva as Readers and Writers for blind children. Volunteers help them read and understand various topics from their syllabus and writers help the children in writing exam papers.
2. Smt. Kamala Mehta School for blind (Dadar)
This school is for blind girls. The volunteers of the trust help students from 1st std to 7th std in their regular day-to-day studies.
The girls are also taught about cookery. Doctor-Volunteers are present at the time of medical check-up of the students.
3. Victoria Memorial School for the blind.
The volunteers of the trust help students from 1st std to 10th std in their regular day-to-day studies. Volunteers also help student learn subject such as handicraft.
Doctor-Volunteers are present at the time of medical check-up of the students.
4. Nirmala Niketan College of Social Work
Volunteers offer seva as writers for the blind students.

21) De-addiction centers :

A daily session is conducted between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm at various centers in the presence of volunteers of the organization and trained doctors. There is chanting of prayers and meditation on Lord Hanuman, after which the patients are checked and administered the necessary medicines. The prayer and meditation gives mental strength to those who seek de-addiction. Till date, approximately 2750 people have benefited from the de-addiction programme and almost 70% (1950 people) have completely given up their addiction habits. Currently the de-addiction programme is conducted at 26 Upasana Centers in Mumbai and all over Maharashtra.


22) Aatmabal Program for women :

Though our Nation is making steady economic progress, the corresponding benefits are not seen to be percolating in the lives of Indian Women, who are the backbone of the family. Keeping this in view, women are encouraged to attend classes, wherein they are imparted training in the day-to-day requirements of life and a positive mindset is nutured. This free training program of 6 months encompasses a variety of innovative activities to make women self sufficient in daily affairs of life, while living in society. The training includes learning Bank transactions, speaking skills in English Language, Knitting, Craft, Beauty Care, Dramatics, Dance and also activities such as changing of Gas Cylinders, small electrical solutions etc. The main objective of these classes is to develop and enhance the self- confidence of women and make them bold enough to face any eventuality in their lives.


23) Physical Fitness Programme :

An exercise program for both men and women of all age groups, in the form of “Surya Namaskar”, was first conducted from 15th January 2002 to 15th February 2002. Almost 3500 men and 3000 women benefited from this programme.

Since then, camps have been organized at various places. Surya Namaskar is a complete exercise with a spiritual background. Selected trained volunteers further train the participants at different centers. Organisations impart training in Indian art to a selected candidates ‘free of cost’, which includes ‘Suryanamaskar, Hasta-Kaushalya, ‘Hasta-Laghav’, ‘Mushti-Laghav’, ‘Ketch’, ‘Jod’, ‘Kallan Vidya’, ‘Mudgal Vidya’ , ‘Vajra Mushti’,etc.

24) Free Summer Camp for Children: - Dhangad-Dhinga :

To nurture the potential and to explore the hidden talent of children, a Fifteen days summer vacation camp by name ‘Dhangad-Dhinga’ is organized every year by Shri Sai Samartha Vidnyan Prabodhini. Children between ages 8 and 12 years are given 15 days practical training, keeping in view their overall development in short, apt personality development at appropriate age.

In this camp through the free interaction and playful atmosphere, children are encouraged to develop positive and healthy attitude and to inculcate self discipline in them. This gives tremendous boost to their self confidence. Due significant part of the camp.

25) Panchasheel Examination :

Panchasheel examinations are conducted by Shri Sai Samartha Vidnyan Prabodhini for general Public, based on 'Sai Satcharit ' written by Shri Govind Raghunath Dabholkar “Hemadpant” on the life and teachings of H.H. Shri Sai Baba, to instill human values and “Bhakti” to common public in general and to upcoming generations in particular. Half yearly examinations based on this spiritual script are conducted by Shri Sai Samartha Vidnyan Prabodhini free of cost. People of different age groups and from different walks of life appear for this examination. Till now more than 1 Lac people have appeared for this Five sets of examinations conducted in span importance is attached to the child psychology. Sports and exercises are also of two and half years since the year 1998. These examination papers can be answered in Marathi, Hindi, English, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Oriya, Bengali, Punjabi and German languages.


26) “Free distribution of notebooks” :

All the organisations jointly distribute notebooks to needy and poor students with an intention that no child should be deprived of education. These notebooks are distributed at the beginning of a new academic year. Last year 50000 notebooks were distributed to thousands of poor students all over Maharashtra.

THE DAWN OF A NEW ERA

The Aniruddha Pournima (Tripurari Pournima) this year (2008) witnessed about
.... shraddhaavaan be blessed with the darshan of Sadguru Shree Aniruddha (Bapu).
Doctors, engineers, lawyers, professors, professionals and other shraddhaavaan from
several walks of life came not only from distant suburbs of the city of Mumbai but
remote towns of the state of Maharashtra, from the nooks of India and in fact from
the world over and could, saying ‘Hari om’, offer their reverence before Sadguru
Bapu. Their heart full of love, they came all the way for the one blessed moment, the
darshan of the Sadguru.
No saffron clothing, no kamandalu, no mala round the neck, no rosary in the
hand, not even a tilak on the forehead and in fact with a clear and explicit view that
‘miracles are jugglery, the tricks of magicians’, how then, is Aniruddhabapu the Sadguru
of millions of highly educated and thinking bhaktas? How come? All the special
moments of grace that these bhaktas have experienced have led them to believe that
Bapu is indeed the Paramatma. Just like every other function in the year, the Aniruddha
Pournima was a day that millions spent in an ambience of bhakti. The sight of
millions queuing up for seven or even eight hours, calm but disciplined, writing the
Ramnaam book of ‘The Aniruddha’s Universal bank of Ramnaam’ through their
wait, reciting a mantra or a stotra is bound to arouse curiosity, interest about Bapu in
the mind of any person stepping in here for the first time.
Who indeed in Sadguru Aniruddha (Bapu)? Despite the fact that there is
nothing conventionally spiritual about Him, how come the bhaktas belive that He is
the Sadguru? The volunteers of the organisation participate in the seva-activities
under the guidance of Sadguru Bapu; the zeal with which they do so and in no way
compromisng on their family responsibilities, on their occupation is truly astonishing.
How come this huge following and that too without any deliberate effort at
propagation? What does Bapu say? What exactly does He want to do? Why does He
want to do all these seva activities? These are some of the questions that crop up in
the mind of the new-comer here.
Dr. Aniruddha Dhairyadhar Joshi i.e. Shreeaniruddha (Bapu) is an M.D., a
professional medical consultant. A perfect family person, through His own conduct,
Bapu communicates that it is very much possible to achieve the highest purpose in
life without turning away from worldly life. Spirituality is not escapism. And shrugging
off responsibilities, giving up home, walking away from the family and smearing the
body with ash just cannot be the means to achieving the highest goal in life. ‘Misplaced
notions of worldly life indicate equally misplaced notions concerning the Higher
purpose’; and leading man on the path of the purushartha, this is what Bapu says
pointing to the following verse in the Shreesaisachcharit:

It is this verse that contains the answers to questions like what does Bapu
intend to do? and what does Bapu really wish? That every human being,walking on
the path of the purushartha, attain the ‘oj’, is what Bapu wants. The attainment of
the six purushartha of dharma, artha, kama, moksha, bhakti and maryada, is indeed
the highest fulfilment of the human birth. It is in order that both the worldly life and
the achievement of the Highest Principle become sources of true joy and at one and
the same time, in other words so that every human being walks firm and consistent
on the path of the purushartha, that Bapu through His own Word, caused the Work,
‘Shreemadpurushartha Grantharaaj’ to come into being.
Spelling out the purpose of His work, Shreeaniruddha states in clear terms in
the Shreemadpurushartha Grantharaaj,
“My dear friends, I, Aniruddha, your Friend, your Mate, have just the one
mission in life - to get the entire universe to fulfill this purushartha of maryada, to
teach and establish this purushartha - that is My aim and without the fulfilment and
the establishment of the purushartha of maryada, the Ramrajya, the reign of Shreeram,
the reign of the maryadapurushottam (the ideal, the only complete and perfect being
who was the epitome of maryada) can never be ushered in.
....and that is precisely why, ‘to imbibe and cultivate the purushartha of maryada,
to nurture it and while doing so, to allow it to develop unrestrained’, is My resolve.”
Bapu connects with every shraddhavan in the role of a friend. He never calls
Himself an avataar. In the Shreemadpurushartha Grantharaaj, He states with His
signature and very clearly -
‘I am your Friend.’
‘I am not an avataar, not of anybody. I was always Aniruddha, I am Aniruddha
and Aniruddha I will always be.’
‘I am a warrior and I enjoy teaching the art of warfare to all those, who wish
to fight their destiny.’
The three volumes of the Shreemadpurushartha Grantharaaj, the
‘Satyapravesh’, the ‘Prempravaas’ and the ‘Anandasadhana’ were released and in simple
words Bapu opened for us, a means of realizing progress in its entirety, walking all
along, the path of the parameshvar. ‘Call Me what you like but it is this one role that
I wish to live. I am your Friend, a Friend who never betrays, a Friend who wants to
see you happy.’ That indeed is Bapu, that is Bapu’s stand.
In explanation to the purushartha of ‘dharma’ Bapu says, the supreme divine
principles of Truth, Love and Joy that stem from purity - their base; and whose one
and only decisive norm is purity, are the true dharma. ‘It is the path of maryada that
grants the aishvarye of the parameshvar to the human dharma’ adds Shreeaniruddha
Bapu in the Shreemadpurushartha.
All the saints of India have upheld the path of bhakti that was always a part of
the ancient Indian values. An excessive and unreasonable inclination towards cessation
of worldly engagement as also a way of life essentially motivated by material, selfseeking
activity, both classify as extremist thought and are largely responsible for the
imbalance in individual human life as well as that in society. Science and spirituality are
by no means contrary or conflicting, they are complementary. It is by striking an
accord of the two, that human civilization can make progress, emphasises Bapu.
Bapu instituted the ‘Panchasheel examinations’ based on the great work
‘Shreesaisachcharit’ and in order to shed light on various aspects of bhakti, He included
in them, practicals relating to scientific principles indicating thereby, the path of the
accord between the two.
In the Shreemadpurushartha Grantharaaj, Shreeaniruddha talks cearly about
His five Gurus. ‘Dattaguru is My Lord and Master, Gayatrimata - My vaatsalyaguru,
Shreeram is the Doer, Shreehanumanta - My Protector and Shreesainath - the Director.’
Time and again Shreeaniruddha refers to works like the Manache shlok, the
Bheemaroopi Maharudra Stotra, the Daasabodh all by Samartha Ramdas Swami as
also the following by the great saint Shreetulsidasji viz. the Sunderkand from the
Shreeramacharitamanas, the Hanumanchalisa, the Sankatamochan Hanumaanaashtak,
indicating to us the path of bhakti of Shreehanumanta, the ideal of those on the
path of maryada. All those who were with Bapu as part of the ‘rasayatras’ to Shirdi,
Akkalkot, Dehu-Alandi, Goa (Mangesh-Shantadurga) as also of the bhaavayatra to
Pandharpur have experienced ever so many blessed moments to cherish in their
hearts for ever. The Ganesh festival is celebrated in Bapu’s own home, which then
hundreds of thousands of people visit. The procession for the immersion of the
Ganesh idol is a huge sea, a sea brimming over with bhakti.
Visiting sacred places of worship, doing different upasanas in these places has
drawn the Indian psyche since ancient times. The Gurukul at Juinagar, the
Govidyapeetham at Kothimbe near Karjat, the Atulitabaladham and the
Sadgurupunyakshetram at Nimbagaon near Dhule are all realizations of ideal sacred
places of worship that happened under Bapu’s guidance. Also under His gracious
guidance and blessings happened the installation of the dhyaanamoorti of Shreesainath
at ‘Sai Nivas’, Bandra, the home of Hemadpant, who penned the Shreesaisachcharit.
Hemadpant’s grandson and the present Pipa Appasaheb Dabholkar along with his
wife Meenavainee were the ones through whom Bapu got this beautiful deed done.
As for the Shreeaniruddhagurukshetram at Khar, Mumbai, all one can say is that it is
a sacred place of Supreme eminence, the zenith, the tiara of all sacred places that be.
What every single person coming to Bapu invariably feels, is
Shreeaniruddhabapu’s ‘pure, sheer love’, love not loaded with any motive whatsoever-
His very essential aspect. Neither does He expect nor does He accept anything from
anybody, never - leave alone the day of Gurupournima, just never. It is not even
mandatory for those attending His pravachan (discourse) to offer the namaskar to
Bapu. The discourse too is a guidance in simple words as to the attainment of
progress on the path of bhakti without turning away from worldly life.
Every Thursday Bapu, while doing the pooja of Shreedattatreya, recites along
with all present, the fourteenth chapter of the Gurucharitra. He then does the
‘Aradhanajyoti’ upasana with the bhaktas present and even participates in the gajars
sung at the time. Bapu says that bhakti is the supreme strength and so He initiated
the ‘Aradhanajyoti’ upasana that will equip the shraddhaavaan to face and successfully
tide over the difficult times lying ahead and help achieve development and progress
in his life. In order that His friends become aware, alert and prepare well in time for
the horrific era awaiting the world, Bapu penned the work ‘The Third World War’ for
them. This work does not tell the future, it is a visionary’s study of the past and of
the present that led to an assessment of the future.
This work contains multiple aspects: an evaluation of the two world wars that
occurred, a explanation to the phenomenon of war, the event of the third world war
in the context of the current international scenario, biological and chemical weaponry,
several means of warfare and many more. The Dattajayanti of 2006 saw the release
of this work in Marathi and English and now the Hindi version too is out on the
stands. Be it the scheming strategy of China or incidents in the middle-east or any
other events for that matter; reading this work through, will confirm all of these as
we have indeed experienced many of them in the recent past.
Facing the horrifying era of the third world war, calls for equipping and
strengthening the shraddhaavaan at all levels. ‘Defence is defeat. Attack is the best
form of defence’ was the core directive of the ancient Indian Balavidya and focussing
on this very principle, Shreeaniruddha revived the ancient Indian martial arts, the
Mudgalvidya and the Sooryabhedanvidya. He also established the ‘Aniruddha’s
Academy of Disaster Management’ (A.A.D.M.) that would train and prepare His
friends to face all kinds of natural and man-made disasters, save their own lives and
even that of others; in sum train in disaster management.
The above project also happens to be part of the 13-point programme that
Bapu gave to us on 3rd October 2002. These training courses that include various
rescue methods and CPCR techniques etc. are offered free of cost. To date, the
DMVs (disaster management volunteers) have made a valuable contribution towards
managing disasters. The unusual downpours of 26th July 2005, the landslide at Sakinaka,
the serial blasts in Mumbai’s local trains on 11th July 2006, the bomb blast at Ghatkopar
on 2nd December 2002 - DMVs had rushed to offer help at the site of all of these
disasters and were part of the rescue operations. They even manage crowds every
year at the time of the Ganesh festival. Similarly the DMVs manage and control
crowds at annual fairs at Mandhradevi, Jyotiba and even at Nasik at the time of the
Kumbha mela.
Under the guidance of Shreeaniruddha Bapu, several seva projects are
implemented as part of the 13 point programme. A health and hygiene campaign
has been implemented for the last five years at Kolhapur-Karanjphen. This year
(2008) about 16,300 students and villagers availed of medical examinations. Accordingly
medecines were distributed and treatment advised. Many were given spectacles. Tests
like the ECG, the sonography, X-ray, etc. and even dental check-ups and treatment
are conducted free of cost. Besides, 7634 students were examined medically and
were then given uniforms (2 sets each and so 15,268 sets), sports material, caps,
slippers, etc. all free ofcost and so that they attend school regularly. The uniforms
thus distributed are made from the fabric woven from the yarn that results from the
‘vastra project’ (charkha project) under the 13 point programme. The volunteers
themselves spin the charkha and the yarn produced is used to make uniforms for the
needy students. Till date, 4000 charkhas have yielded 1,58,700 metres of fabric
resulting in 71,376 uniform sets that were received by 35,683 needy students.
The ‘Annapoornaprasadam’ project offers to students of the rural and tribal
areas a mid-day meal. The volunteers themselves cook the food and serve it to the
children. As of today 3100 students belonging to 32 different schools avail of this
seva. The Kolhapur-Karanjphen project could offer mahaprasad (food) to 40,000
adults and children in the region. here again it was the volunteers who cooked and
served the food with love to them.
The eco-friendly Ganesh idols, another innovative project is a significant measure
towards protecting the environment. Ganesh idols are made by volunteers from the
pulp of the paper of the Ramnaam book that the shraddhaavaan bhaktas write. This
year (2008) about 3200 Ganesh idols were taken home and worshipped.
Moreover, other projects include provision of foodgrains, medicines, clothes,
material required in school, etc. to persons suffering from leprosy. These persons also
receive guidance as to possibilities of earning their livelihood. Seva is als offered in
institutions for the mentally challenged, the mental hospitals. Students residing in
remote places difficult to access are also provided with articles of everyday use, school
text books, etc.
In the year 2005-2006 the cattle numbering 400 - 500 of the famine-struck
regions in Purandar taluka of Pune district received a regular provision of a truckload
of fodder for one whole month. This seva on the part of the organization reached
the cattle at the right time averting the possibility of starvation. The volunteers then
put in their time and physical energy to help the residents of this region to successfully
face the paucity of water. Also, under the ‘Old is gold’ project of the 13 point
programme, a survey was conducted in the taluka of Purandar and essentials were
distributed free of cost among the people.
As the volunteers participate in the various seva projects, they never lose sight
of the fact that Bapu always emphasises: He says, bhakti is the essence, the core of
seva. It is devotional services that we offer. The term ‘bhakti’ stems from the root
verb ‘bhaj sevaayaam’. Thus ‘bhakti’ implies seva offered with love and affection.
Neither can bhakti be complete without seva nor can true, heartfelt seva happen
without the foundation of bhakti. Bhakti keeps us firmly grounded, it does not allow
the ego to take root, says ShreeaniruddhaBapu.
‘Preach only what you practise’ or rather ‘Practise first and only then preach it’
is what Bapu actually follows. Every single day Bapu spins the charkha, He writes the
Ramnaam book, walks for an hour as part of the exercise regime, takes up His
children’s studies, reads a chapter of the Shreesaisachcharit, two from the Gurucharitra,
he reads the Vishnusahasranaam, the entire Sunderkand of the Shreeramacharitamanas,
the ‘Ramrasayan’, recites the Dattabavani, reads a chapter from the work
‘Dattamahaatmya’ by Vasudevanandasaraswati and also the Ramaraksha.
He keeps saying, ‘If at all you wish to give me something, give Me the Ramnaam
jap, the Ramaraksha stotra jap. I will deposit it in My Dattaguru’s bank but for your
sake, not mine and put it to use when you are in real need. Give your time, give your
efforts for the seva of your needy brethern, for the upasana of the bhagavant. You
need to offer at least twenty-four minutes out of twenty-four hours in bhakti of the
bhagavanta. It is this that is ultimately going to be useful. In the horrific times of the
third world war, it is this reserve of bhakti and seva that is going to salvage you.
Bhakti is the path of the valiant not of the coward. It is a totally misplaced and
wrong notion to define for oneself ridiculous associations with bhakti like being
shabbily dressed or being foolish or uncaring about worldly affairs. Modern technology,
science, an alert yet ethical worldly and material life, being tidily and neatly dressed are
all needs of the hour and one just has to move on with time.’
In the preface to the work ‘The Third WorldWar’ Sheereaniruddha Bapu says,
‘There is no doubt that over the next twenty to twenty-five years, conflict will become
an aspect of everyday doings and in every region on earth. In the coming times, the
equation of today might not be valid tomorrow and what was valid at seven in the
morning might be flung right out of the window after its purpose is served and at
five minutes past seven. The calendar is released every once in a year because there is
a definite kind of mathematical formula and construction involved. The calendar of
the coming ‘third world war’ is however, going to be a new one everyday.’
Dwelling on India’s role in the work ‘The Third World War, Shreeaniruddhabapu
states in detail that it is indeed going to be a significant one. In explanation He says,
‘What is most important is that the task of salvaging the world on all fronts as also
that of its post-war rehabilitation will, in all probability fall to India’s lot.’
Shreeaniruddha strongly believes that no matter how big the destructive power,
it is as slight as a blade of grass, just no match for a pure, positive and constructive
power. Besides, for the purpose, He is ever willing and committed to undertake a
morally worthy and constructive task complying with the norms of the parameshvar.
In His role of a Friend, Shreeaniruddha is ever at work, ever willing to take along
with Him all the shraddhaavaan on the path of accord mentionned earlier, the path
that leads beyond any conflict whatsoever.... to usher in the new era, an era of love!
An era of the human, the humane dharma! An era of pure friendship!
He cherishes in His open eyes, the beautiful dream of the dawn, the dawn of
the new era. His relentless and infinite effort will mark the break of dawn.
The one singular focus and aim, the one life mission of the One, who will
cause the break of dawn, the sunrise and light the way is,
I shall fill this world with happiness and
abound with joy, all that be.
